The eyes of Raider Nation are now upon owner Mark Davis. Is Antonio Pierce the next head coach?
While Las Vegas itself didn’t close the season with a winning record (8-9), Pierce finished with a 5-4 record. And as a humble man, he told reporters on Monday, he’ll never use the word “deserve.” But, he said, he hopefully earned the opportunity to return without the interim tag.
“I’m a Raider. I’m a Raider until I’m not a Raider anymore, right,” Pierce said Monday.

Davis will have the final word, but key stars on the team have stepped up to voice their support for Pierce. Before Week 18, both Davante Adams and Maxx Crosby said they want Pierce to return. After Sunday’s win, Crosby double-downed on that endorsement, telling Megan Olivi they’ve changed “this whole team around in a short time. I don’t know why you would mess that up.”
Pierce knows he has the support of not just his players, but former players, as well.
“I’m being evaluated each and every day. And they know what it looks like. They’ve had some really, really good coaches in their career. They know what it sounds like, looks like, if it’s real, if it’s fake, if it’s just a momentary deal,” Antonio Pierce said Monday. “So, to have their blessings and backing is –
obviously, that’s humbling.”
