The first practice of the week did not come with good news for the 49ers, as Sacramento native Arik Armstead was still out on Thursday.

Armstead, 28, has been dealing with a foot injury sustained at the beginning of last week. The issue bled over into the following days, forcing him to sit out all practices for the remainder of the week. He went into Sunday at Denver with a questionable designation and was ruled inactive prior to the contest.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed Thursday that Armstead is dealing with plantar fascia and that while he is progressing, his status for Monday night against the Los Angeles Rams is unclear at this time.

“[Armstead] was real close to going and we thought he did good in that workout before the game. But we held him back and it’s still the same today as it was on game-day so hopefully it’d be good by Monday,” Shanahan stated Thursday before practice.

A leader for the Red & Gold defense, Armstead has been one of the most consistent players on the team, missing his first game since the 2017 season. In his first year playing defensive tackle, Armstead tallied six sacks, 11 QB hits and 63 combined tackles last season.

One footnote of good from Thursday came in the form of OL Daniel Brunskill returning to practice in a limited fashion. Brunskill has been held out since August 12th with a hamstring injury.

Injury Report:

DNP: LT Trent Williams (ankle)

RB Ty Davis-Price (ankle)

LB Azeez Al-Shaair (knee)

TE Tyler Kroft (knee)

TE Ross Dwelley (ribs)

Limited: OL Daniel Brunskill (hamstring)

Update: WR Danny Gray (hip) and DT Javon Kinlaw (knee) have been added to the injury report and did not practice Thursday. Safety Tavarius Moore (hamstring) was limited at 49ers practice to start the week.
