A’s Acquire Homer Bailey From Royals

The Oakland Athletics have acquired starting pitcher Homer Bailey from the Kansas City Royals, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.


Oakland is sending infielder Kevin Merrell in exchange for the 33-year-old starter. The A’s will only pay Bailey $250,000 for the remainder of the season.

On the season, Bailey is 7-6 with a 4.80 ERA (48 earned runs, 90 IP) striking out 81 and walking 38. He’s been pitching well over the past month and a half though, going 3-1 with a 3.35 ERA with 37 strikeouts in his last eight starts.
