The Oakland Athletics have designated Fernando Rodney for assignment, the team announced on Saturday. Wei-Chung Wang’s contract was selected from Triple-A Las Vegas in the corresponding move.

Rodney struggled in his second season with Oakland after being acquired at the trade deadline last season. In 17 appearances this season, Rodney has an ERA of 9.42 over 14.1 innings pitched while striking out 14 and walking 12.

Wang signed with the Athletics earlier this year after being released by the Milwaukee Brewers. He was drafted by Milwaukee in 2013 and made 22 appearances in his six seasons. He only has pitched in 18.2 innings in his career, allowing 23 earned runs.

In Las Vegas this season, Wang has an ERA of 3.75 over 24 innings of work striking out 22 while walking just six batters.
