Houston Completes Sweep Of Athletics

Oakland has dropped five straight contests on the heels of their 10-game winning streak
Over the course of a full baseball season, the highs are high and the lows are very low.
After winning 10 straight games, the Oakland Athletics dropped their fifth straight contest on Sunday when the Houston Astros defeated the A’s 6-4 in 12 innings. The Astros completed the sweep after scoring two runs off of Oakland reliever Lou Trivino in the top of the 12th inning. Home runs by Matt Chapman and Ramon Laureano tied the game at 4-4 before the Athletics surrendered the loss in extras.
Laureano has now hit safely in 15-straight games while upping his batting average to .257 on the season.
Oakland has fallen back below .500 with the loss at as they now hold a 29-30 record as they look forward to their next series in Anaheim. The series will begin on Tuesday at 7:07pm, and you can catch all the action right here on Sports 1140 KHTK.
Saturday, June 1 – Astros 5, Athletics 1
Astros ace Justin Verlander carved up the Oakland offense as he gave up only one run over eight innings in a 5-1 Houston win. Stephen Piscotty hit his seventh home run of the season in the loss.
Friday, May 31 – Astros 3, Athletics 2
Mike Fiers hurled 6.2 innings of two-run ball on Friday, but the Oakland bullpen couldn’t hold on as Lou Trivino gave up a home run to Astros’ designated hitter Derek Fisher in the eighth inning to give Houston a 3-2 win.
Matt Chapman hit his 15th home run of the season while Ramon Laureano picked up two hits on Friday evening.
