Oakland A’s pitcher Sean Manaea, who no-hit the Boston Red Sox back in April, was the last remaining pitcher from the teams’ season-opening rotation. After being placed on the 10-day disabled list Monday, Manaea has been diagnosed with rotator cuff tendinitis, the club announced on Tuesday.

Despite not being the Opening Day starter, Manaea has been the clear leader at the top of Oakland’s rotation this season. In 27 starts, Manaea has a total record of 12-9 with a 3.59 ERA and 108 strike outs.

Oakland Manager Bob Melvin is hopeful that the 26-year-old lefty can return before the end of the season, but is aware that he could be shut down until 2019.

The A’s have been the story of the MLB this season, a year ahead of schedule in terms of a competitive rebuild. Manaea has been a crucial part of Oakland’s 79-53 record, good for fourth in the MLB.

Oakland is in Houston for game two of a three-game set tonight. The A’s currently trail the Astros by 2.5 games in the AL West.
