Oakland holds a 1.5 game lead on Tampa Bay for the top Wild Card Spot

The finish line of the 2019 Major League Baseball season is approaching fast, and the Oakland Athletics are looking to punch their ticket to the postseason.

Six games remain for the Wild Card leading Athletics as they will face the Los Angeles Angels tonight in Southern California in the first of a two-game series. The A’s took two out of three games from the Texas Rangers over the weekend in their final home series of the regular season.

Oakland finished with a 52-29 record at the Coliseum, the fourth-best home record in the league.

Homer Bailey will get the start on Tuesday night as he looks for his career-high 14th win of the season. The 33 year-old veteran is 6-2 with a 4.21 ERA since being acquired by Oakland in a midseason trade with the Kansas City Royals.

The MVP of the Athletics continues to rake. Marcus Semien is seemingly setting new career-highs on a nightly basis, as he is hitting .287 this season with 32 home runs and 91 RBI. His 120 runs scored places his fourth in all of baseball, and his 183 hits place him sixth in Major League Baseball.
