Semien, A’s Take Series From Royals

The Athletics shortstop drove in 10 runs over the four-game series
The Oakland Athletics started their seven-game road trip by taking three out of four games against the Kansas City Royals, capped off by a 9-8 win on Thursday afternoon.
Jurickson Profar hit his 17th home run of the season and drove in three runs to pace the Athletics offense. Rookie Seth Brown went four-for-five with two-RBI to push his batting average to .333 since being called up earlier this week.
Marcus Semien had quite the series for the A’s, driving 10 runs in over four games while hitting two home runs. After hitting his 24th home run and driving in his 71st run, the veteran shortstop is quickly approaching career-highs in home runs (27) and RBI (75). Since July 27th, Semien is hitting .304 with nine home runs and 22 RBI.

Game 3: Wednesday, August 28 – Royals 6, A’s 4
Tied up in the seventh inning, Blake Treinen surrendered two runs to cement a 6-4 Royals win on Wednesday night.
Marcus Semien and Mark Canha homered for the A’s, while rookie Seth Brown picked up his first-career double. Tanner Roark allowed four runs over six innings while striking out four batters for Oakland.
Game 2: Tuesday, August 27 – A’s 2, Royals 1
Mike Fiers won his 13th game of the season on Tuesday night during a 2-1 win in Kansas City.
The Athletics only needed two runs to knock off the Royals, as Fiers struck out five batters over 5.1 innings of work. Yusemiro Petit, Joakim Soria and Liam Hendriks combined to hurl 3.2 shutout innings to propel the A’s to victory.
Marcus Semien went two-for-four while driving in his 70th RBI of the season in the win.
Game 1: Monday, August 26 – A’s 19, Royals 4
Homer Bailey returned to face the team that traded him last month, and the Oakland offense had his back.
Marcus Semien drove in seven runs while the Athletics racked up 19 runs on 22 hits to pummel the Royals by a final of 19-4. Semien, Matt Chapman, Jurickson Profar and Khris Davis all homered in the rout. Mark Canha and Matt Olson picked up three hits apiece, while Josh Phegley went four-for-five with three RBI.
In his return to Kansas City, Bailey allowed three runs while striking out three over six innings of work. AJ Puk pitched two scoreless innings, striking out two batters in the process.
