Switch-hitting infielder Jurickson Profar was reportedly traded to the San Diego Padres on Monday afternoon per Robert Murray of The Athletic. The return for Oakland is unknown at this time.
Profar, 26, hit .218 with 20 home runs and 67 RBI over 139 games for the A’s.
With Profar out of the picture, Oakland could opt to stay in house and slide Franklin Barreto or Chad Pinder into the second base void for 2020. As far as free-agent options go, there are second basemen on the market such as Starlin Castro, Asdrubal Cabrera, Jonathan Schoop and Brock Holt.
