Now that we are right in the middle of the World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Tampa Bay Rays, we thought it was a good time on the show to ask who are the five-best players in baseball?

We asked that of our audience, we asked it to The Carmichael Dave Show, we asked it amongst the crew from the afternoon show and we received different answers across the board.

The only caveat on this question was we took out pitchers.

We were only looking for everyday players. These lists are subjective but here is my list of the top 5 baseball players right now.

#5: Christian Yelich, Milwaukee Brewers, LF

Yelich certainly didn’t have his best season this year but can you blame anyone for 2020.

I think going forward he will return to his MVP form. That 2 year stretch where he averaged hitting .328 with 40 home runs, 105 RBI with 25 stolen bases. Gaudy numbers that I expect to return with a full season in 2021.

#4: Aaron Judge, New York Yankees, RF

This may be a homer pick because I have been a lifelong Yankees fan, but homer is the key word here.

Judge just mashes, year after year. He has a big arm, big bat and is fun to watch. So ALL RISE and enjoy checking out Aaron Judge every time he steps in the batter box.

#3: Nolan Arenado, Colorado Rockies, 3B

Arenado bats in a very friendly hitters park but I could put him in here just for his defense.

That isn’t the reason I have him here, but seven Gold Glove Awards and three Platinum Glove Awards put you near the top of any list. Arenado’s bat though is lethal. He hits for a decent average and consistently hits home runs and knocks guys in.

Arenado is a great player and I still think doesn’t get nearly enough attention and I have him 3rd on my list.

#2: Mookie Betts, Los Angeles Dodgers, RF

Everyone is getting a chance to see just how good Mookie is.

YouTube video

On a nightly basis Mookie has shown off his skills throughout the Major League postseason and now currently in the World Series. He has power, speed, incredible defense and sets the tone for that amazing Dodgers lineup. Mookie would spark any lineup and put him on just about any team in baseball and he would make a world of difference.

Mookie is the man and currently sits at the two spot on my list.

#1: Mike Trout, Los Angeles Angels, CF

Trout has been on this list and in this spot for a couple of years and nothing has changed.

Mookie Betts may have closed the gap but the best player in baseball is still Mike Trout. I can’t help but think of him playing the rest of his career at this level and not have a post-season moment would be a true shame. He needs to get to the second season to show off his amazing skills for everyone.

Trout is #1 and has all the tools still to be baseball’s best player.
