ABC7’s Casey Pratt joined the Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross Wednesday to discuss the latest news surrounding the possible move of the Oakland Athletics to Las Vegas.
Recently, the Oakland Athletics announced it purchased 49 acres of land in Las Vegas, the planned eventual home of a new team stadium.
The $1.5 billion, 35,000-seat stadium will include a retractable roof, and house not just baseball, but other events, as well. The Las Vegas Review-Journal noted in its story if all goes well for the organization, crews could break ground on the new stadium in 2024. The team could be in their new home as early as 2027.
Additional topics discussed include:
- The similarities between Oakland Athletics ownership and what almost happened with Sacramento when there were threats to relocate the Kings
- More cracks are forming with the Las Vegas plan. “I think if they don’t get it in Vegas, they’re going to have to come back here and sell the team.”
- What’s happening in Las Vegas and Nevada that could prevent the team from relocating
- Could Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis be an ally to A’s fans?
- What do other MLB owners think of the situation?
- Is there any movement behind the offer from Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob
