The Oakland Athletics will be in the postseason for the first time since 2014.

Before their game Monday night against the Seattle Mariners, the New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1, punching a ticket to the postseason for the A’s.

At the very least, Oakland will play the Yankees in the Wild Card game, who currently lead the Athletics by two games for home field advantage in the one-game playoff. They still have a small chance to win the American League West, trailing the first place Houston Astros by 4 1/2 games with six games remaining in the season.

On June 15, the Athletics held a record of 34-36. Since then, they have been a league best 60-26, pushing their record to 94-62.

If everything holds as is, the Athletics would play the Yankees in New York in the American League Wild Card Game on Wednesday, October 3rd.
