NBA Summer League is returning to Golden 1 Center.
The Sacramento Kings announced on Wednesday that they will host the 2023 California Classic at Golden 1 Center in early July for a two-day showcase of some of the top rookies from June 22nd’s NBA Draft.
Six teams will showcase their young talent in downtown Sacramento on Monday, July 3rd, and Wednesday, July 5th during a two-day summer event at Golden 1 Center.
Both days will include plenty of fun and entertainment surrounding the Downtown Commons as fans file in for some Kings basketball during the mid-point of the NBA offseason.
The Spurs and Hornets, who hold the No. 1 and No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft respectively, will join the Kings, Warriors, Lakers and Heat for an expanded Classic.

For the first time in the California Classic’s history, the event was moved away from Sacramento and occurred at Chase Center in San Francisco last summer. The mid-summer showcase has pivoted back to the 916 following a one-year break.
Unlike previous California Classics, the Kings have brought two more teams into the fold, as the San Antonio Spurs and Charlotte Hornets will join the Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, and Miami Heat in the festivities.
San Antonio’s participation is noteworthy as they hold the first-overall pick in June 22nd’s NBA Draft, meaning that French phenom and expected top-pick Victor Wembanyama could make his Summer League debut in Sacramento.
Along with Wembanyama’s possible participation, the Hornets (second-overall pick) will bring Alabama forward Brandon Miller or G-League standout Scoot Henderson to the Classic–but that’s not all.
Here is the full slate of teams that will be participating with their current first-round draft selections:
- San Antonio (1st)
- Charlotte (2nd, 27th)
- Los Angeles (17th)
- Miami (18th)
- Golden State (19th)
- Sacramento (24th)
General public will be able to purchase tickets on Monday, June 5 at Kings.com/CAClassic.
