Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin rematch has been cancelled due to Canelo getting suspended.
News of his suspension was announced two weeks after Los Angeles Times reports Lance Pugmire released news that there were findings of Clenbuterol in Canelo’s drug test.
Brian Campbell of CBS Sports reports;
“Golden Boy’s Eric Gomez announced during a conference call that the May 5 bout between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin has been canceled.”
The Nevada State Athletic Commission has scheduled hearing on April 18 regarding Canelo’s future in boxing.
Both boxers were expected to square off at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in a rematch after last year’s fight ended in a draw.
Unfortunately, the rematch will not happen at the regularly scheduled time in May, but that doesn’t mean the two will not square off in the future.
