ABC7’s Casey Pratt joined the Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross to discuss the latest news and blows to the Oakland Athletics, including Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo signing the bill, granting the team $380 in public funding for an eventual $1.5 billion stadium along the Las Vegas Strip.
The only move next for the move to become official is approval from 75% of MLB owners. The bill was passed by the Nevada state Senate and Assembly after a seven-day special session to fine-tune the financing.
“Today is a significant step forward in securing a new home for the Athletics,” the team said in a statement. “We thank Nevada Governor Lombardo, Legislative leaders, and Clark County Commissioners and staff for their hard work, support, and partnership. We will now begin the process with MLB to apply for relocation to Las Vegas.”
Topics discussed with Casey include:
- Why the San Francisco Giants have green blood on their hands
- If ever there was a group to screw up the final steps, it’s owner Athletics John Fisher and president Dave Kaval
- Could Oakland ever be considered for an MLB expansion team?
- Where does the Oakland Athletics play next year and until the prospective Las Vegas stadium is built?
