I BELIEVE THE KINGS WILL WIN (kinda)

Nobody can accuse me of being a fairweather Kings fan. And if you’re reading this, there’s a high chance the same goes for you.
Over the last month many of us have been enthralled with the Reddit Stock Craze, we’ve learned about “stonks”, “to the moon”, and Diamond Hands.
“Diamond Hands” refers to no matter what happens, good or bad, you hold onto that stock.
You don’t sell. If you do, you have “paper hands”, hands that can be ripped right through. Nothing rips through diamonds.
If you’re still a Kings fan, you have diamond hands.
I say this because these are exciting times.
The Kings are on a run, and despite the loss to Philadelphia this week, this run feels a little different.
But those of us who have been around long enough to experience the highs of 2002, and all the lows since, well let’s just say there’s always a feeling of “we’ve been here before”.
So some of us are just a little skittish.
I take you back two years ago today. Thx to Facebook memories, everything tends to pop back up.
We had just beaten Phoenix. Dave Joerger’s guys were cooking, and 56 games into the season, we were 4 games over .500 at 30-26.
That was the highest we’d get over .500.
The team finished terribly, under the .500 mark, and Dave Joerger was fired.
Yeah.
But I say AGAIN, this time feels different. Fox is at another level. Haliburton is a revelation. Richaun is having a career year, as is Harrison Barnes. The players all seem to love Luke Walton.
Is it for real?
Or will Lucy pull the football from us?
Is Monte McNair actually Lucy??
Will he make some very smart long term focused trades, but tear our hearts out in the interim?
Oh believe me, I’m in. I celebrate after every win, go crazy, heck I did the last hour of my show Monday in my underwear to pay off a bet.
I’m in.
But there’s that little part of my soul I’m going to protect for a while.
We’ve been hurt too many times.
