Chris Watkins and Allen Stiles are joined by Chris Biderman of the Sacramento Bee to talk about both the Sacramento Kings media day experience and the recent play of San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey.
Biderman believes it’s Super Bowl or bust for the Red & Gold, but has trouble seeing McCaffrey walking away with the MVP title at the end of the year.
“The bar is so high for MVP when it comes to non-quarterbacks,” Biderman said. “He’s in rare air right now. He can break Jerry Rice’s all-time record with touchdowns in 14 consecutive games if he scores one against the Cowboys. And the Niners haven’t lost a regular-season game since the Christian McCaffrey trade, which is wild to think about… He can be in the running, but it would have to take a down year from all the top quarterbacks for him to win MVP.”
Additional topics discussed include:
- Why McCaffrey is more likely to win Offensive Player of the Year if he’s not MVP
- Is Brock Purdy beating the “dink-and-dunk” allegations?
- Last Sunday was the closest we’ve seen of Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa
- Talk of championship aspirations dominated the Sacramento Kings’ media day
