Chris Biderman of the Sacramento Bee and Candlestick Chronicles Podcast joined Sactown Sports Tuesday to discuss the 49ers Monday night loss to the Minnesota Vikings, what went wrong, and where the Niners go following a two-game losing streak.

The NFL trade deadline is officially less than a week away, with teams needing to submit deals to the league by 1 p.m. PST on Tuesday, Oct. 31. Are there any deals that the 49ers need to make before Halloween?

“It’s interesting because we came into the season thinking the 49ers have the most talented roster in the NFL and I still believe they do and they’re just not playing up to that standard,” Biderman said. “Look, I think you could add a receiver if Deebo Samuel’s absence is going to be prolonged. I think you could potentially add pass-rushing help but again, you still have an extremely expensive defensive line with Nick Bosa, Javon Hargrave, and Arik Armstead there.”

Additional topics discussed include:

  • Who is more to blame for Monday night’s loss, the 49ers offense or defense?
  • Thoughts on Steve Wilks’s tenure so far as the 49ers’ defensive coordinator
  • Why criticism against quarterback Brock Purdy has been “unfair”
  • Which teams are still the biggest threats to San Francisco?
