Las Vegas Raiders tight end Darren Waller has missed a majority of training camp because of a hamstring injury.
While he made a brief return last week, he’s been sitting out of practice again recently. With the season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers roughly two weeks away, coach Josh McDaniels said he’s not concerned about his star tight end’s extended absence, but could not comment on if he will be ready for week 1.
“He’s doing everything he can to get out there as soon as he can be,” McDaniels said. “I don’t want to make a prediction on whether he will or won’t be ready here in a few weeks, but I see him every day, he’s in every meeting, he’s doing everything he can to get out there as fast as possible.”

Last season, Darren Waller missed six games because of injuries. In the games he played, the 29-year-old tight end caught 55 passes for 665 yards and two touchdowns. Those numbers could increase this season.
“I feel like he knows that he’s going to be a big part of this team and what we want to do, and he’s right there in every meeting,” McDaniels said.
