Davante Adams wants to be part of history. But not the history the Las Vegas Raiders made on Sunday.
When the final whistle blew against the Minnesota Vikings and the score read 3-0, the Raiders etched their name in the NFL record books.
The Vikings and Raiders went three quarters without scoring a point. Minnesota kicked the game-winning field goal with 1:57 left in the game, the second-most time that has elapsed before the first score in a game since 1966, including playoffs, per NFL Research.
“Can’t say I saw that coming,” Adams told reporters. “You want to be a part of history but never that type. So no, I did not see us doing that.”
Adams finished the game with seven receptions for a team-high 53 yards. This was the 13th game he finished with fewer than 100 reception yards.
But it wasn’t just a Las Vegas issue, both teams struggled to move the ball down the field, with the Vikings and Raiders combining for just 245 passing yards.
“I mean, it’s embarrassing too, not that that’s the main thing that drives it, but you walk off that field and you got a lot of fans that came pay their money to come see you play, and you go up and put up a goose egg,” Adams said. “I mean, it almost looks worse that they only score three too. Sometimes you’ve seen plenty teams win 20-0, whatever. But when other team wins by three, and they only scored three, it just looks horrible. So, hopefully we don’t make any more history like that on this side.”

Luckily for Davante Adams and the Raiders, there’s not a lot of time to swell on Week 14’s loss. The team has a quick turnaround, facing their division rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers, on Thursday Night Football.
“Personally, I’m excited to play. It works better if the team is healthy, you come out of that game good and you want to have the opportunity to kind of iron out some of those wrinkles and just get that bad taste out of your mouth like you said,” Adams said. “So, for me, I feel good about it. And I can’t speak for every single person, but that’s kind of how I attack it.”
