In a recent interview with The Ringer’s Mirin Fader, Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams let it be known that he may not see “eye-to-eye” on what’s best for the organization.

Last season, his first with the organization, Adams became the new Raiders single-season receiving yards record-holder, notching 1,443 receiving yards. But his personal success didn’t lead to team success, as the Silver & Black ended the season with a 6-11 record and started the offseason with a new quarterback.

On Thursday, Adams spoke to the media following several days of team OTAs, where he was asked about the article and his comments. Adams elaborated, saying he’s excited to get to work with Jimmy Garoppolo and he’s happy to be in Las Vegas.

“I love my head coach, and I love the general manager here, and everybody from the top to the bottom. I have no reason to lie. One thing I don’t do is BS, so I’m not gonna make anything up when it comes to that. I’d rather keep my mouth closed if I have negative things to say. But when I say that these are some good men in this place that I really value the relationship that I have with them, I mean that,” Adams said.

Earlier that same day, Raiders coach Josh McDaniels was asked about his star wide receiver’s thoughts. While he said he hasn’t seen the article and knows the exact quotes, McDaniels said he and Adams have a great relationship and that there’s no drama between the two of them. He added his star wide receiver, and other players like him, have earned the opportunity to speak out and voice their opinions because of their play on the field.

“I respect the hell out of anything that they would say or suggest, or anything like that, during the course of the process of trying to improve our team, which I know is where Davante comes from. He’s a competitor, he wants to win, and that’s really his sole focus. And that’s what he does here every day. He’s here pushing himself, pushing his teammates. He’s been a tremendous leader again this spring for our football team,” McDaniel said. “So, I have nothing but respect for anybody like that, that has a comment or an opinion like that.”
