Davion Mitchell on how Coach Brown helped create the team’s identity
May 3, 2023, 5:00 PM

In one season, coach Mike Brown was able to do what the past 11 coaches tried but failed to accomplish…turn the Sacramento Kings into a winning organization.
With the Kings finishing with 48 wins in the coach’s first season in Sacramento, Brown, along with general manager Monte McNair, are seen as the driving forces of change for the Kings. Guard Davion Mitchell noted in his exit interview that coach Brown helped the team shape its identity.
“He’s been a part of something we’re trying to go to, so I think people ultimately just respect him from that,” Mitchell said. “Then the people he’s coached before, all the greats he’s coached before, so I think it’s about respect from everyone. You could see that he held everyone accountable no matter who it was.”
