Second-year guard Davion Mitchell spoke to the media following Thursday’s practice as the third-seed Sacramento Kings prepared for a crucial game against the Phoenix Suns that will take place on Friday night at Golden 1 Center.

Mitchell spoke about being included in Sacramento’s leadership council–a four-person group of Kings players that also includes De’Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, and Harrison Barnes–and shared his thoughts on the team’s status as they close in on clinching its first playoff berth since the 2005-06 season.

In his second season with the Kings, Mitchell is averaging 5.7 points and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 46 percent from the field and 34 percent from three-point range.

Next Game

Sacramento will have a chance to all but ensure its first Pacific Division championship since the 2002-03 season if they can beat the Phoenix Suns on Friday night at Golden 1 Center.
