After a week of speculative practices, wide receiver Deebo Samuel will give it a go versus the Dolphins Sunday.
One of the 49ers best offensive weapons, Samuel battled a quad contusion all week, only practicing in limited fashion with the team on Wednesday and Friday.
Deebo suffered the injury during Week 12’s win over the New Orleans Saints. The wideout took a big hit in the endzone during the contest, leaving the 49ers’ pass-catcher on the ground for a few minutes, eventually walking off the field under his own power. He was able to return to the field and finish the game.
The 49ers had thought Samuel would have overcome the injury at the start of the week, but deep thigh bruises tend to linger on a case-to-case basis.
“He’s trying to get healthy,” head coach Kyle Shanahan said Friday morning on KNBR. “His thigh has been bothering him and it hasn’t loosened up the way we want it to. He’s got to do something today to give him a chance to be a game-time decision.”
The former South Carolina Gamecock clearly showed enough over the last 48 hours, suiting up against the Dolphins today.
49ers left tackle Trent Williams will also play Week 13. Williams popped up on the injury report Friday, leaving practice early with back spasms.
Additionally, defensive tackle Arik Armstead will also suit Sunday against the Dolphins, marking his first time on the field since Week 4 against the LA Rams. Armstead has been suffering from foot and ankle injuries the last two months.
