With all the news coming out of Las Vegas concerning the quarterback position Wednesday, coach Josh McDaniels was also able to provide an update on injured defenders Denzel Perryman and Chandler Jones.
Linebacker Denzel Perryman and defensive end Chandler Jones both left last Saturday’s game early because of a shoulder injury and an elbow injury, respectively. On Wednesday, McDaniels said both players have been placed on IR.
“Harvey Langi is coming up for Denzel [Perryman], and then we acquired Isaac Rochell off of Cleveland’s practice squad to fill Chandler’s [Jones] spot,” McDaniels said. “You guys know, we’ve been playing a bunch of young guys all year, honestly – linebacker, corner, safety, offensive line. I mean, we’ve basically been doing that all year long, so this is not a situation where we’re going to empty the practice squad and do that. That’s not what we’re doing. We’re going to field the best group that we can to go out there and compete and win.”
After a slow start to the season, Jones was named the AFC’s Defensive Player of the Week in Week 13 when he recorded six tackles, three sacks and one pass defended against the Los Angeles Chargers. In his first year with the Raiders, the defensive end recorded 3 passes defended, 4.5 sacks, 38 combined tackles, three fumble recoveries, and one memorable touchdown.

Perryman’s 2022 season included two interceptions, one sack and 83 combined tackles. The former Pro-Bowler currently leads Las Vegas in combined tackles, however, Maxx Crosby sits just below him at 82 and has two games to play to lead the team for the 2022 season.
