Derek Carr and Davante Adams did not play a snap of Raiders preseason football.

But, that doesn’t mean they won’t have a connection.

During the two seasons they played together at Fresno State, Adams caught 38 touchdowns, recorded 3,031 yards receiving, and had 233 catches. Sure it’s been a few years since they’ve played together, but Carr told media the two train together during offseasons and have been working together for months at the Raiders training facility.

“I think for everyone else, the excitement of it – I’m sure I’ll throw him a ball, he’ll get a catch or whatever, and everyone will be like, ‘Oh my gosh, here we go.’ And to us, it’ll just be the next play. Just because we know how much football there is to play and all that kind of stuff,” Carr said.

Adams agreed, saying Carr is one of the “most consistent, disciplined” people he knows.

“It’s a lot of the same, just obviously at a much higher level now and much more responsibilities on him obviously now than what it was then,” Adams said. “But same guy, like I said, very consistent dude, and you’ve got to love that out of your quarterback just knowing what to expect every day. I appreciate that and it raises everybody else’s level of play, similar to what I said about Aaron [Rodgers]. He’s got that same ability where if he’s out there it’s going to make you play up to his standard if yours doesn’t match that, which obviously most of ours does match where his is at, but if not, he’s going to bring you up.”

The Raiders kick off the 2022 regular season against the Las Angeles Chargers.
