When Derek Carr spoke to the media on Tuesday, it was inevitable someone would ask him about the rumors Tom Brady was almost a Raider.
During the inaugural “Gronkcast” hosted by Rob Gronkowski, which was simulcast during UFC 278, UFC president Dana White told a story of how one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time was almost a member of the Raider Nation.
“I worked to put that deal together for Brady and Gronk to come to the Raiders,” White said during the simulcast. “And it was almost a one deal. And at the last minute, Gruden blew the deal up and said that he didn’t want [Brady].
Carr’s response? To remove himself from the story.
“At the end of the day, anything I say will just be blasted out there, so I’m just going to completely remove myself and just keep trying to play football,” Carr said. “It’s been nice just answering football questions. Hopefully there’s no more drama in the city, that’s what I hope.”
He added there was a death within the Raider building over the weekend. Carr didn’t elaborate more on the situation, but said he was “immersed in that and just talking to that person.”
