Domantas Sabonis named Western Conference Player of the Week

Another day, another milestone for Domantas Sabonis.
The All-Star center has been named Western Conference Player of the Week for his stellar play during the week of March 6-12th, as Sabonis posted averages of 20.0 points, 10.7 points, and 8.3 assists per game while shooting 58 percent from the field.
Sabonis racked up back-to-back triple-doubles during a perfect 3-0 week for the second-seed Sacramento Kings as the franchise inches closer to ending its 16-year playoff drought.
After starting off the post-All-Star-break with an 8-1 record, the Kings are firmly in the mix for a top-four spot in the West, which would lock in home-court advantage during the first round of the playoffs.

According to the Kings, Domantas Sabonis is just the fourth player in the Sacramento era (1985-present) to be named Western Conference Player of the Week multiple times during a single season, joining De’Aaron Fox, DeMarcus Cousins, and Chris Webber.
In his first full season with the Kings, the three-time All-Star is currently averaging 19.0 points, 12.3 rebounds, 7.0 assists (career-high), and 0.8 steals per game while shooting 61 percent from the field (career-high) and 36 percent from three-point range.
As of March 13th, Sabonis leads the NBA in double-doubles (53), rebounds (786), and rebounds per game (12.3) while holding top-10 spots in assists (8th, 447), true shooting percentage (8th, .672), effective field goal percentage (8th, .631), Offensive Rating (8th), and Win Shares (2nd, 10.0).
Sabonis’ 53 double-doubles tie DeMarcus Cousins’ Sacramento era record for most by a King in a single season, as the 26-year-old will look to set a new record on Monday night when the Milwaukee Bucks arrive at Golden 1 Center.
