LISTEN: Former NHL Center Ed Olczyk Joins The Grant Napear Show

Olczyk, who played 16 years in the NHL, joined the show to discuss his career as a player and more

This week on the Grant Napear Show with Doug Christie, former NHL center and current color commentator for the Chicago Blackhawks Ed Olczyk joined the show to catch up with Grant and Doug.

Olczyk, 53, played 16 seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Winnipeg Jets, New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings and Pittsburgh Penguins. winning a Stanley Cup championship with the Rangers.

With the current developments of the COVID-19 outbreak affecting hundreds of thousands across the globe, the former center shared his thoughts.

“These are obviously uncharted times for all of us, regardless of what we do or where we are,” he said. “Hopefully everyone out there is abiding by the rules and being smart.”

Olczyk, who grew up a Chicago Blackhawks fan, went on to live his dream and play for his hometown team. He went back and reflected on his experience growing up, and shared his road to becoming a Blackhawk.

“All I wanted to do was play for the greatest league in this world,” Olczyk reflected. “I made a career decision to try to become a hockey player when I was 15 years old.”

The future center gave up playing baseball and other sports to pursue his goal of playing in the National Hockey League.
