Roxy Bernstein, broadcaster for ESPN and the PAC-12 Network, joined Chris Watkins and Zakariah to talk about all things sports.
Just before Roxy joined the show, the Damian Lillard trade news broke. Along with that breaking news, the three discuss Bay Area baseball and college football. On the topic of baseball, Roxy shared his thoughts on the Giants’ disappointing season.
“I know people are critical of Farhan Zaidi and the Giants front office, they did try to make the splash signings. They went after Aaron Judge. They thought they were getting him and struck out. They went after Carlos Correa and the deal fell apart at the eleventh hour when it just didn’t work and the medicals didn’t line up with the money they were committing to him,” Roxy said. “So the Giants have been aggressive, [but[ they need to somehow land a free agent, whether it’s going after [Shohei] Ohtani here in the offseason. But this organization needs a spark. They need somebody that will invoke fear in the opposition.”
Additional topics discussed include:
- Initial thoughts on the Lillard-to-Milwaukee trade
- His friendship with Solomon Hughes, the actor who portrays Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on HBO’s “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty”
- The PAC-12 dissolving
- How Cameron Skattebo is playing with ASU
