ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Jimmy Garoppolo could return in 8 weeks

The news keeps getting better for Jimmy Garoppolo and the San Francisco 49ers.
Garoppolo was carted off the field in Sunday’s win against the Miami Dolphins, with reports initially saying he broke his foot and would be out for the season. On Monday, coach Kyle Shanahan expressed to reporters that the quarterback did not suffer a Lisfranc injury, a positive sign.
On Tuesday, the injury news got even better. ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted Jimmy Garoppolo does not need surgery.
“If rehab goes smoothly, he could have a chance to return in 7-8 weeks, making him a potential playoff contributor,” the NFL insider said.

If the team continues to win and makes it into the playoffs, seven weeks from today would put the 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round, the week following Wildcard Weekend.
