Turner, a former guard that spent seven seasons with the Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets and Chicago Bulls from 1981-1989, has been an assistant coach in the NBA since the 1996-97 season.

Beloved former Sacramento Kings head coach Rick Adelman brought Turner onto his staff when he was named head coach in 1999.

Since the 1996-97 season, Turner has been with the Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings (twice), Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns and Memphis Grizzlies.
