Antonis Stroggylakis, Eurohoops editor and reporter, joined Cattles & Ramie Friday to discuss how EuroLeague MVP Sasha Vezenkov looked in Friday’s game against AS Monaco, which helped propel Olympiacos to Sunday’s EuroLeague Championship game against Real Madrid.
When asked if there’s a player in the NBA who can be compared to Vezenkov, Stroggylakis said Sasha is a “unique player” before suggesting Nikola Mirotić.
“I think he [Sasha Vezenkov] has a ceiling higher than Nikola Mirotić. He can become an upgraded version Nikola Mirotić,” Stroggylakis said. “I’m saying Nikola Mirotić for specific reasons, he’s exceeded Nikola Mirotić in becoming EuroLeague MVP and he’s faster and can become a better rebounder than EuroLeague MVP.”
Additional topics discussed include:
- The optimal way to use him if he joins the Sacramento Kings
- Why he doesn’t need the ball to be effective on offense
- He’s familiar playing with skilled big men and could play well with Kings’ center Domantas Sabonis
- While he’s not a defensive “juggernaut” Sasha holds his ground on defense
- If Olympiacos wins the EuroLeague Championship, then he’s more likely to join the Sacramento Kings
