Former NFL wide receiver Derek Hagan joined Sactown Sports to talk about the latest storylines in the NFL, one of which was Jerry Rice being left off of someone’s Top 5 receivers list.

Recently, Seattle Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf listed his top five all-time wide receivers on the “All Things Covered” podcast. While two 49ers players were listed, Rice and Terrell Owens, neither were ranked number one. That spot went to Antonio Brown.

So, who made Hagan’s list? Well, Rice was number one, followed by Owens, Randy Moss, Calvin Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald.

Hagan was selected in the third round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. His career included stops with the New York Giants, Buffalo Bills, and Oakland Raiders among others. He currently sits second all-time in PAC-10 history with 3,939 career receiving yards during his time at Arizona State University.

Additional topics discussed include:

  • Thoughts on the direction of the PAC-12
  • Will college football ever be popular in California?
  • Why running back are not getting paid today
  • If wide receivers can ever run into the same contract issues running backs are currently dealing with
  • What was it like playing for Nick Saban
