According to Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports, Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox’s name is beginning to circulate around the league as a “big-time player who can potentially be moved” in the coming weeks.

Haynes goes on to say that the Kings have had discussions with the Philadelphia 76ers regarding disgruntled star Ben Simmons, but added that those talks were largely “exploratory due diligence”.

Regarding Sacramento’s aggression in trade talks, Kings general manager Monte McNair told The Carmichael Dave Show with Jason Ross this morning: “We’re going to remain aggressive, but also disciplined. We can’t just make a trade to make a trade. That continues to be our mindset and when opportunity presents itself–and we are continuously looking for those–we will act.”

Within Haynes’ piece, it is mentioned that the internal plan is to build around Fox and talented second-year guard Tyrese Haliburton as cornerstones, rather than ship one or both of the guards out of Sacramento in the coming days.

Sacramento (17-27) currently sits just one-half game back of the 10th spot in the Western Conference standings with 38 games left to be played.

After a sluggish start to the regular season, Fox has slowly began to morph back into his 2020-21 season form as the 24-year old is averaging 22.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.1 steals per game on 49-percent shooting from the field over his last 16 appearances.

With Fox starting to heat up and Haliburton seemingly posting point-assist double-doubles on a nightly basis, the Kings have a talented young backcourt that they reportedly would like to continue to build around.

Of course, in the NBA, nobody is really untouchable–something even Fox himself, is aware of.

“You definitely think about potentially being traded because we are struggling,” Fox told Haynes. “I have to keep being persistent and keep playing…You play a lot of basketball games and you’re going to play well and you’re going to play bad. Do I think I’ve had the greatest season this year? No. I know I haven’t played too well. But I try to control what I can control and do the best that I can do.”
