Gary Gerould is irritated by people ‘taking shots’ at Sabonis

The voice of Sacramento Kings radio Gary “G-Man” Gerould joined Cattles & Ramie Monday to discuss the team’s season, the unfortunate ending to their playoff run, Game 7 Stehpen Curry and more.
“You look at where this team was back in October in training camp and where they ended up this season, I’ll take that season in a heartbeat,” Gerould said. “I think it exceeded virtually everyone’s expectations and I think the stage has been set. There’ll be enhancements to the roster, and there’ll be changes that will be made, but I think this team is in a good position where it can be very good, very competitive, over the next several seasons.”
Additional topics discussed include:
- Being surprised Davion Mitchell didn’t play much in the second half
- How impressed he was with De’Aaron Fox’s first playoff appearance
- Was Fox impacted by his fractured finger?
- “A lot of folks have been taking shots at [Domantas] Sabonis, which irritates me. I think people forget he played with an avulsion fracture from Christmas on. He only missed one game. And sure, he had his hands full, but the Warriors did a masterful job of taking him out of his comfort zone, realizing how impactful he was to any Sacramento Kings’ success. You don’t win four championships in eight years by just going through the motions.”
- Why this series is part of a bigger picture for the team’s future success
- Being a “big believer” in what coach Mike Brown and his staff after what they’ve done to change the culture in Sacramento
