The San Francisco Giants have placed outfielder Mike Yastrzemski on the 10-day injured list.
According to the team, Yaz strained his left hamstring in the fifth inning of the Giants’ recent 4-2 win over the Padres. An MRI by the team showed inflammation in his hamstring, “but he felt lingering soreness on Friday.”
This is the second time Yastrzemski has been placed on the IL this season. His previous stint was also because of a left hamstring strain.
The move is retroactive to June 22, which means he could return as early as July 2 against the New York Mets.
So far this year, Yastrzemski has hit 10 home runs on a .259 batting average and an .806 OBP.

To fill the roster spot, the Giants called up infielder Isan Díaz from the Sacramento River Cats. The former top-100 prospect has not appeared in a major league game since 2021 when he played for the Miami Marlins.
Despite going hitless Friday night in the Giants’ 8-5 win over the division-leading Arizona Diamondbacks, Diaz has been on a tear in the minors, batting .345 with seven home runs between Single-A and Triple-A.
