Kung Fo Panda is not sticking around the Bay Area. The team announced its opening day roster, as well as additional roster moves, which included releasing Pablo Sandoval.
The 37-year-old Sandoval received a non-roster spring training invitation from the Giants earlier this offseason. In 16 spring training games, Pablo Sandoval connected with only seven hits in 28 at-bats.
He last played in the majors for the Atlanta Braves in 2021. He then went on to play in the Mexican League during the 2022-23 seasons and played in the Dubai-based ‘Baseball United’ league along with retired or aged stars like Robinson Cano and Bartolo Colon.
San Francisco also optioned infielder Marco Luciano and outfielder Luis Matos the Triple-A in Sacramento.
