The San Francisco Giants closer Camilo Doval has been named the National League Reliever of the Month for May.
Through 14 games in May, Doval recorded a 1.32 ERA and converted each of his 11 save opportunities. According to a press release announcing the honorees, “his 11 saves during the month tied for the third-most by a Giants pitcher in a single month, and were the most since Brian Wilson also had 11 in September/October 2010.” Robb Nen holds the Giants franchise record for saves in a single month, recording 14 saves in July 2000 and 13 saves in June 2001.
This is the second time Camilo Doval has been named the Reliever of the Month, having previously been given the honor in September 2021. He currently leads the National League with 14 saves.
