Marvin Bagley III returned to Sacramento for the first time since being traded last February.
And the boos reigned down on Bagley from the moment he was announced as a starter with the Detroit Pistons until the end of the game.
His time with the team had its ups and downs. Bagley was drafted second overall in the 2018 draft, one spot ahead of Luka Dončić. In four seasons with the Kings, he would only play 148 games, missing time because of injuries. He ended his time in Sacramento averaging 13.5 points and 7.4 rebounds. Not exactly the numbers fans expected from a number two pick.
But, that disdain wasn’t shared by players. After Sunday’s game, Harrison Barnes gifted his game-worn jersey to Marvin Bagley II. On it, Barnes signed the City Edition jersey, adding, “To coach, much love.”
The elder Bagley thanked Barnes on Instagram for the gesture.
