How to watch 49ers at Raiders Preseason game: TV channel, start time

After many, many, MANY months without football, the 2023 NFL season is officially upon us. First up for the 49ers: A visit to Las Vegas to square off with the Raiders.

The San Francisco 49ers took their training camp to Nevada this week, getting in some scrimmages with the Silver & Black. Both teams have spent the last two days working out alongside one another, occasionally facing off. So far: The home team has held their ground.

Former 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has steadily improving with his new squad this summer. The veteran led the Raiders to a touchdown on their first drive of joint practices. Despite facing San Francisco’s elite defense, Jimmy G has been in control, outplaying second-year QB Brock Purdy.

Purdy & the rest of 49ers’ roster have all been reminiscent of their time with Garoppolo, speaking highly of their former co-worker. From the coaching staff to the players, all seem to be pleased to see Jimmy G in person once again.

“Yeah, it was good to see old Jim. He is doing good. He looks healthy and good and just talking about how everything is here and how he loves it and how we miss him and it’s always good seeing Jimmy, so it’s great,” Brock Purdy said about Garoppolo.

While the two starters won’t play this weekend, Sunday’s clash should be an entertaining one nonetheless.

What time does the preseason game start?

Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. PST on Sunday, Aug. 13th, at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada.

Who’s starting?

49ers quarterback Trey Lance will start the team’s first preseason game against the Raiders, coach Kyle Shanahan announced on KNBR Friday. Lance will play the first half of Sunday’s contest, and fellow QB Sam Darnold will play much of the second half.
