Two weeks to go in the 2022 regular season and the San Francisco 49ers are riding high on an eight-game win streak. Next up is an old foe in the Las Vegas Raiders on New Year’s Day.

The former Bay Area rivalry has only been played 14 times since the Silver & Black’s formation in 196o. The all-time series is tied at 7-7. Both teams last met at Levi’s Stadium in 2018, when the 49ers thrashed their opponents, 34-3. In said game, quarterback Nick Mullens threw for three touchdowns and 262 yards passing.

Las Vegas started this week with shocking news that they would be benching long-time starting QB Derek Carr for the final two games, replacing him with Jarrett Stidham. Despite the opposition’s lackluster record, San Francisco is still gearing up for a fight in the desert, hoping to claim the No.2 seed in the NFC.

“With the Raiders, I do see a very dangerous team because they have playmakers all over the field,” defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans said. “You talk about their big three, they have guys who can really take over games and we still have our hands full no matter who’s at quarterback. We still have our hands full with this team. They have been in a lot of close games. They’re a team who’s vying for a playoff spot, so we know we’re going to get all that they have and we know they’re coming out gunning for us, so we have our hands full and we’re ready to roll.”

What time does the Week 17 game start?

Kickoff is set for 1:05 p.m. PST on Sunday, Jan. 1st, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Where can I watch the game?

The game will air live on FOX. Kevin Kugler (play-by-play) and Mark Sanchez (color analyst) will be on the call. Laura Okmin (sideline reporter) will join them.
