Sean Payton returns to the sideline Sunday when the Denver Broncos host the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season.

After 15 seasons in New Orleans, Payton took a year off from coaching and worked on Fox’s NFL coverage. He returns to rescue a franchise that’s fallen on hard times since winning the Super Bowl in February 2016. To make matters worse, the Raiders have beaten the Broncos six consecutive times and have won eight of the past nine meetings between the AFC West rivals.

Even though they’ll both be on the offensive side for their respective teams, new Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo faces off against an old foe, Russell Wilson.

“We’ve always had some good battles. Russ is a great quarterback, you got to tip your hat to him and with Coach [Sean] Payton over there, I’m sure they have some good things,” Garoppolo said. “But it’ll be a battle Sunday, we know that and we’re looking forward to it.”

What time does the game start?

Kick-off between the Raiders and Broncos is set for 1:25 p.m. PST from Empower Field at Mile High in Denver.

Where can I watch or listen?

Fans can watch the Chiefs and Lions locally on CBS13. The game is set to be called by Tom McCarthy (play-by-play) and James Lofton & Jay Feely (analysts).
