Expectations for Hunter Renfrow were high last season following 2021.

Two years ago, Renfrow set multiple career highs with the Las Vegas Raiders, including receiving yards (1,038), touchdowns (9) and receptions (103).

But, an injury-plagued 2022 limited the 27-year-old receiver to only 10 games, a career low. And when he was present, he wasn’t his productive self, totaling only 330 receiving yards, 36 receptions and two touchdowns, also all career lows.

When speaking to the media Friday, Renfrow was blunt with his thoughts on last season.

“I feel like I let a lot of my teammates down last year and that’s something that left a bad taste in my mouth and something I want to get over and prove to them, through this spring and going into this season, that I’m a guy they can count on and be consistent,” Renfrow said.

His main goal this season is to “control what I can control,” take everything one step at a time and “have fun every day.” That goes for both on the field and off the field, like being tied to trade rumors this offseason.

“I didn’t necessarily have a lot of fun last year, so that’s my big thing for this year, is find ways to have fun and not really care about the outside noise and just go out there and find a way to have a blast,” Renfrow said.

Raiders coach Josh McDaniels is also excited to get a healthy and focused Hunter Renfrow back this season.

“Anytime you have a player that battles through a bunch of the injuries that Hunter [Renfrow] did last year and the stuff that prevented him from being on the field, you have some extra motivation as a coach to see it through and make sure that he comes back and has the type of season he’s capable of having, which we all know what that is, we’ve seen that before,” McDaniels said. “I know he’s excited. He’s ready to go. He’s healthy, had a good offseason. So again, we can’t predict anything, but I know what Hunter is capable of. I know what he means to our team. I know how excited he is to perform well and try to help us win, and that’s what we’re geared towards too.”
