Jarrod Lyle first received his diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia at the age of 17. While he continued to fight the disease when it returned in 2012 and 2017, it eventually became too much. On July 31st of this year, his wife announced on his Instagram account that he was ending treatment. She explained:
“…Today we started palliative care for him as his body is no longer able to fight. We will take him closer to home to be near his girls. He has put up a courageous fight and he is surrounded by love”
Briony also shared a final message for Jarrod before his untimely death:
“Thanks for your support. It meant the world. My time was short, but if I’ve helped people think and act on behalf of those families who suffer through cancer, hopefully it wasn’t wasted.”
Lyle’s professional career in golf began back in 2004, and since then he’s been in 121 PGA Tour tournaments. He even won two Nationwide Tour events back in 2008, according to Us Magazine.
We wish the best to his family and friends as they move through this difficult time.
