Josh Jacobs, the reigning NFL rushing champion, had his best game of the season Sunday against the New York Giants.

In 2022, the 25-year-old running back recorded 1,653 rushing yards. But he spent the summer holding out for a new contract and did not rejoin the Raiders until Aug. 26. Missing all of training camp and preseason. A slow start hampered his productivity, rushing only 408 yards and recording only three touchdowns through the first eight weeks. Well, it finally looks like Raiders running back has returned to form.

Josh Jacobs scored two of the Raiders’ three touchdowns against the New York Giants. He also rushed for 98 yards, his most in a game this season.

Because of his output, he has been nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week. Fans have through Tuesday to vote.

According to the Las Vegas Raiders, FedEx and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) make a $2,000 donation on behalf of the winning running back to a Historically Black College and University (HBCUs).

Jacobs was named the NFL’s FedEx Ground Player of the Year for the 2022 NFL season. Twice last year, the Raiders running back was named the FedEx Ground Player of the Week. In one of those weeks, he set the Raiders’ single-game rushing record when he ran for 229 rushing yards against the Seattle Seahawks.
