The Las Vegas Raiders have now gone a full week of training camp without Josh Jacobs.
News about a new contract has been sparse since mid-July when the organization and Jacobs did not come to an agreement on a long-term deal. Josina Anderson, NFL insider for CBS Sports, reported on Aug. 1 that the team still wants him to rejoin.

New: My understanding is, the #Raiders are open to restarting talks with RB Josh Jacobs, with the hopes of getting him to rejoin the team, which still remains the goal for the organization.

But training camp must go on. And until there’s a resolution, the Raiders have to act as if they’ve got their running back group for the upcoming season.
Currently, the team has Zamir White, Ameer Abdullah, Brandon Bolden, Brittain Brown, and Sincere McCormick on their roster. Vic Tafur of The Athletic reported White and Abdullah split the first-team reps earlier this week.
Raiders coach Josh McDaniels said everybody is getting opportunities right now, just like last year when Jacobs was in camp.
“They did last year, and they will always do that because this is our opportunity to try to get them all a ‘foundation’ in our system and see what they can do and see if they can develop and improve. This is a really important time of the year for everybody in that regard. You
know, when JJ [Josh Jacobs], like I said, you go with what’s the best thing to do for the team. And certainly that was him last year and I wouldn’t expect that to be different this year,” McDaniels said. “But, again, every game is a little different, every situation is a little different, the health of the team, etc. These guys all have great opportunities right now and that’s what they are focused on and trying to control their improvement day to day, and they are working really hard at doing that.”

Three of those running backs are young, too. McCormick missed the entire 2022 season after tearing his ACL last year. Brown and White were both selected in the 2022 NFL Draft, playing sparingly last season as Jacobs ran for a career year.
“We haven’t had a lot of looks at some of these guys. This is only our second opportunity with Britain [Brown], our second opportunity with Zamir [White]. Sincere [McCormick] had a couple of good runs yesterday is his first opportunity because he got injured last year,” McDaniels said. “So, excited for these guys because every day there’s something to learn from.”
