Jimmy Garoppolo played his last game as a member of the San Francisco 49ers in Week 13 against the Miami Dolphins, where he fractured his foot.

There were hints he could have maybe played again if the 49ers reached the Super Bowl, but the team lost in the NFC Championship game. That was the last we heard about Garoppolo’s foot, until now.

According to a report from TheAthletic.com, the new Raiders quarterback had foot surgery earlier this year, that’s why he’s not participating in OTA’s. Las Vegas Raiders coach Josh McDaniels spoke to the media Thursday following the team’s first few days of OTAs. There, he was asked about his new quarterback’s health.

“He’s going through his process just like we knew he would. Nothing has happened that would surprise us based on the information we had,” McDaniels said, adding it could be until training camp before Garoppolo gets on the field. “We’re always going to air at this time of the year on being smart. We don’t play a football game, until like I said, three and a half months.”

Along with Jimmy Garoppolo, the Raiders signed ex-Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer in the offseason and drafted Aidan O’Connell.
