Josh McDaniels, head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, opened his Wednesday press conference by offering his thoughts on Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin.
On Monday, Hamlin collapsed on the field and suffered a cardiac arrest after tackling Cincinnati Bengals receiver Tee Higins. The game was eventually postponed. In an update from the Bills, the team said Hamlin remains in critical condition but showed signs of improvement overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.
McDaniels said he thought both coaches Sean McDermott and Zac Taylor did a good job handling the situation “as well as they could.”
“We’ll continue to be thinking about them and hope for good news, obviously, as we go through the week,” McDaniels said. “It’s a difficult situation. We did a good job this morning, our doctor, Dr. [Navdeep] Singh, educated them a little bit on what we know about that scenario just so they have peace of mind about what actually occurred as best we know it. And all of our support staff and coaching staff, everybody that the players would need are here today and will be here all week in case they need anything else. But again, our thoughts and prayers are with Damar and his family and the entire Bills organization.”
