The Kansas City Chiefs made a major move last season, releasing star running back Kareem Hunt after a video of Hunt pushing and kicking a woman was released in February of 2018. In the midst of a playoff push, the Chiefs sent a clear message, that they would sacrifice a better chance at winning in order to separate themselves from domestic violence.

This February, the Cleveland Browns signed Hunt to a one year deal, prior to the conclusion of the NFL’s investigation. Friday, the league announced that Hunt would be suspended eight games for “violating the league’s personal conduct policy”.

According to ESPN’s Field Yates, Hunt will forfeit $303,529 of his $645,000 base salary.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter released a statement from Hunt’s agent Dan Saffron after the NFL announced the suspension:

The Cleveland Browns also released a statement from Hunt himself:

Before his release last season with Kansas City, Hunt had totaled 824 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns. He also caught 26 passes for 378 yards and seven receiving touchdowns.
